Greater Richmond Homeschool Choirs
September 8, 2011-June 7, 2012
Ensembles
The Chorale is composed of students ages six through twelve. Rehearsals focus on basic vocal techniques such as tone production, breathing, phrasing, posture, and diction. The repertoire for Chorale is age and level appropriate, and covers many of the musical time periods. Within the group setting, musical theory concepts such as rhythm, pitch, note reading, and expression, are covered. Students in Chorale receive both a full choir rehearsal, as well as a small group rehearsal each week.
The Bel Canto Choir is composed of students ages thirteen through eighteen. Bel Canto Choir studies and performs high quality choral literature and rehearsals focus on mature techniques such as blend, balance, vowel formation, breathing, phrasing, intonation, accuracy of pitches and rhythms, posture, and diction. Advanced musical theory concepts and general music history are incorporated in rehearsals to help form a well-rounded choral musician. Students receive both a full ensemble rehearsal as well as a small group rehearsal each week.
